You didn’t see a Sunday DM drop-in coming, didjya?
Well, hi, surprise! It’s Devon. We’re back, and we’re here, in your inbox, hoping that this email finds you well - or, better yet, parked in the best spot on your couch, perhaps with a glass of a new favorite chilled red, a cocktail, or a hot chocolate because, after all, it is cozy szn.
It is also the first day of Daytime Savings (Fall’s Edition). Godspeed to all of us and our mental health as it starts getting dark at 5 p.m. and it starts to get like, not just chilly, but cold. I can’t complain too much, though: with the exception of last week’s mini-blizzard, we had a lovely fall here in Denver and up in the mountains, and I’m leaning into the cooler temps (sweaters, boots, and coats, oh my!) and the *somewhat slightly* slower pace that this time of year tends to usher in right before the holidays.
All that said, I’m heading to sunny San Diego this week for my younger brother’s wedding in La Jolla (and, shoutout to my future SIL, who has always been one of The DM’s #1 fans) - but you best believe that once I (begrudgingly) leave the California coast, I’ll be back in Colorado, just trying to copy Lenny Kravitz and his now-famous ‘ginormous blanket scarf’ vibe till spring.
Anyway, without further ado, happy reading, happy evening, and I hope you have a happy little week ahead.
Hit it, Lenny.

Wearing: A natural deodorant that actually works (I swear and so does The Strategist). Also, y’all are going to think I’m obsessed with socks (it’s true, I am) but these are the most comfortable lazy Saturday socks I’ve ever bought and the price point is good too!
Listening to: The Money with Katie Show, trying to get my $$ even more right in 2024, I like the fun way she covers financial subject matter specifically related to being a women. See: getting off the Hot Girl Hamster Wheel, See: A sabbatical will change your life, See: Rich Girl Roundup on best personal finance books. P.S. She also has a newsletter.
Bonus listen, taking advice from our fair saint Alison Roman:
Reading: This amusing and moving article about going to a Taylor Swift concert/being a TS fan. I will never, ever, ever refer to myself as a Swiftie, however.
Buying: I’ve been looking for this exact ashtray ever since I saw it on a random coffeetable in a very chic home tour about 5 years ago. And this week… it finally happened! Lesson— if you’re patient on Ebay and you know what you want EVENTUALLY it will show up.
Laughing at: This video, forever.

Following: my friend Hans’ new interior design Instagram. All of his Reels are not only full of tips and ideas that are spot on and fantastic but also are just simply fun to watch. Super high-quality follow from my biased and unbiased POV.
Wearing all winter (I’m calling it now): Eberjey pajama knockoffs from The Good Ol’ Gap. Extra cozy points to me when paired with my new constant companion, aka this supersoft, extremely well-priced blanket that I have in dark red but probably need to get in another color, too.
Making: this five-ingredient chicken-apple sausage with onions and cabbage dinner, which I highly recommend putting on your rotation, stat, and the same iced pumpkin cookies that come out of my kitchen every fall but are truly worth repeating/sharing/peer pressuring people to eat at parties year after year. Also, not currently making - but will be soon! - my martinis at home with these lemon twist olives, which I tried yesterday and am now forever changed.
Loving on: this color palette for everyone, this lewk to try and attempt IRL, and this shirt for the dudes. Also, shocker - purple eyeshadow.
Listening to: the Britney Spears book on Audible (oh my GOD, I’m enthralled) and yet another groovy, bop-y playlist I found via cooler-than-me people on the Interwebs that’s been my ‘motivation to keep working’ soundtrack as of late, but I imagine would also be a delight to throw on for a party!
