…A chance?!
I can’t be the only one out here who’s very into this Kylie Jenner glow-up (literally, I feel as if I am watching her grow up before my very eyes) during her courtship with Sir Timothée Chalamet. This look at the Golden Globes? Iconic. And this look from the Jean Paul Gautier show in Paris this past week? Who is this classy little bish? Sashey, my chameleon fashion queen.
It’s a good reminder that you can change your style mid-breath and try something new. It’s also a nice reminder that the right accessory (in this case, Timothée) can be game-changing in public perception as well as your perception of yourself. On that note, I am going to finally buy a balaclava because nothing says I’m very stylish but I’m also very cold like a modern-day bonnet. It’s time.
From Meg
Wearing: This month, I was stranded in Nashville for several days in the cutest B&B east of the Mississippi River. What sounds like the setting of a country western adventure movie in the Hallmark Channel’s winter streaming section, was actually pretty boring.
I did however stop by Jenni Kayne for some emotional support shopping and bought this item which can only be described as the intersection between a sweater, a sweatshirt, and a t-shirt. A very solid (albeit overpriced) basic that I am pretty sure I’m going to buy in all colors avail. I like that I can layer it or wear it straight and could probably also wear over a dress or a jumpsuit. It runs insanely large (I got the XXS) but IMO- a worthy winter investment!
Making: Fluffernutter Bars or as I lovingly renamed them, Blackout Bars. Because you have one and then you blackout from the sugar content. Heh.
Shocked: that Charles Melton wasn’t nominated for an Oscar for his performance in May December. The graduation scene! Devastating. Also shocked that Charles Melton’s jawline hasn’t been nominated for any men’s razor campaigns. Get this man a sponsor deal with Gilette, asap.
Following: A Thing or Two is one of the inspirations for Devon and me even starting The DM so naturally I would follow Claire and Erika to the moon but on Tuesdays specifically they do ‘Thingies’ in their stories where they have their followers share their favorite things. I don’t say this lightly but, obsessed. Here are a few I enjoyed from this past week:

From Devon
Painting: my nails with polish from a new-to-me online-only brand. I have their red-orange, and you can also create your own custom colors - which is just so fun. I’ve done it twice, and the colors came out pretty perfectly. And, if you need some color palette inspo, look here.
Returning to: three recipes I can’t recommend more highly enough - the NYT Cooking chicken shawarma, sticky chocolate cake, and our gal Alison’s labneh dip.
Also! If you’re not already a subscriber of Caro Chamber’s brilliant ‘What To Cook When You Don't Feel Like Cooking’ newsletter, I have three one-month gift subscriptions to give away - slide into my texts or inbox if you want one!
Curious as to how: I can score an invite to Anderson Cooper’s house in Brazil.
Not buying: any clothes until March (Godspeed to me!!), in an attempt to start weeding out all the sweaters (current count: infinity plus one) I’ve amassed over the past nine (!!) winters in Denver. As such, here’s a quick rundown of a few things I’m not placing in my shopping cart - but you should: a little striped short and top set, a silk blouse in - what else - the most beautiful of blues, an off-the-shoulder top, and a splurge-y shearling coat.
*Editor’s note: I did say no clothes, but do shoes count? If not, I’ll be busy dreaming of these cuties, while actually considering these.
Joyfully watching: this guy asking people on the street to teach him their favorite dance moves. I played it through twice and grinned the entire time.
Plus, a bonus cheesy DM moment from me!
Not to be a buzzkill and wrap this week’s issue up by talking about death or anything, but - a quote from this blog post has instilled in me a new life motto:
“‘Hallelujah!’ the vicar called out, in the 14th-century stone church, as an opening to my grandmother’s funeral service. ‘Let’s begin with that word on our lips.’ He described how much she meant to the community and how her love for people was unconditional. ‘Mary wasn’t perfect; she would be the first to say that,’ he said. ‘But she was wonderful.’ What a beautiful way to see people, don’t you think?”
Have a wonderful week ahead, all you wonderful people! xo
