Howdy from my perma-sugar high!
This time of year, little treats are pretty much akin to daily affirmation for me. Count the things you’re thankful for I whisper to myself over my third sugar cookie. Meditate on this, putting another cute accessory in my forever shopping cart. It’s called self-care, as I watch my 17th absolute garbage Christmas film. When does it all end? Someone stop this train! As Louis C.K. once said about his relationship with food, “The meal is not over when I’m full! The meal is over when I hate myself!”
As we all come to the final mile on this hedonistic treadmill that is the space between now and 12/31, we wish you the very same first-world struggles. We have it pretty good and we know it. This is our last DM of 2023, it’s been fun cuties. Cheersing you near and far with our fourth cookie and a glass of something that will potentially give us a small headache tomorrow. Devon and Meg, out.

Wearing: A grey sweater with everything. Allison Bornstein called it winter’s version of summer’s white t-shirt in that it dresses down everything— and I agree. Also if you’re in a fashion rut, or want to try something new in your wardrobe I suggest watching many more of her videos (like the dip-a-toe method OR how three little words could change your whole closet). Then, once you become as obsessed with her as me, buy her book and we can start a book club, k?
Speaking of: One of the best things I did for myself (and my closet) this year is invest in velvet hangers. Not only does my closet have 10X more uniformity, but everything hangs better and actually stays on the rack.
Fawning over: my Lego roses (yes, still -for those who know that I have been doing so for quite some time). I forgot how much I love Legos and I love flowers so it’s truly a match made in hobby heaven.
Watching: As a fun break from all my procrastinating from work this week, I have been enjoying this Tiktoker’s interpretations of old movies. Picture me in my living room cackling at Coyote Ugly, Save the Last Dance, and Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer. I love him so much.
Buying: Influenced by Becky with the good Substack who declared this guy as the best beanie of all time, I am the official owner of a new red hat.

Making: ginger blood orange margaritas, complete with cranberry ice cubes!, because I heard Santa is a bit of a lush and loves tequila as much as he loves cookies. And, *speaking of cookies* and aforementioned sugar highs - Lauren made Grossy’s Rainbow Sprinkle Cookies, and they are so.damn.good. that I’m still thinking about them a week later.
Manifesting for 2024: a trip on the incredibly glam Belmond train (anywhere - or everywhere - they travel to in Europe, I’m not picky!!), this dress in my closet, and an invite to spend next Christmas in this cottage.
Living in: one of my two Old Navy sweatsuit sets (pants here, top here), now and likely for the rest of winter. See also:
Stocking up on: these very-nicely-priced linen napkins that’d look very nice on a holiday table as it would be any other time of year - slash, would make for a very nice gift! Related: this is an unassuming smash of host gift to keep on hand.
Tying: bows on everything (and I’m not the only one) that needs/doesn’t need one with this ribbon.
Waiting for: this print to arrive.
