Happy Tuesday with a rare DM appearance. We pride ourselves on always keeping the people guessing.
Devon isn’t a big birthday gal, but I am, and I especially like celebrating other people’s birthdays. Hers is Friday, she’ll be in Mexico City, and there’s no one I can think of who is more deserving of a tequila drink and some real time off. Please join me in virtual cheers to this strawberry blonde red-lipped one-girl revolution who loves a colorful party dress, a well-placed bow (before it was cool, and long after), a dip that always hits, Scout the dog, and ofc several martinis, a plate of fries, and surprise homemade cookies waiting in the wings. In that order, but not always.
We love the D!
You guys already know my taste in music is ‘12-year-old girl from the year 2002’, so plz enjoy this true classic. The first few chords bring us back to ‘Holiday in the Sun’ specifically the scene where young MK & A show up at “the club” and young Megan Fox snubs them and declares war. A fantastic film. A perfect soundtrack. A moment in time. A holiday in the sun. Bon voyage!

Reading/Watching:
Lauren Sherman’s ‘Line Sheet’ at Puck. It’s one thing to say you like style and trends. It’s quite another to claim an interest in the true business of fashion. Stay with me here— Lauren’s thrice-weekly newsletter covers it all from M&A, to the gossip at the bar. I f*cking love it. She writes in an informative but casual way like you’re catching up over a drink and she has the dish.
She’s how I learned that Outdoor Voices is going bankrupt but also that they spent 237,000 DOLLARS on those unnecessary tote bags in 2023.
She’s how I learned that Glossier might be sold to LVMH (owned by Bernard Arnault, the richest man in the world)
And she’s the one who’s hinting that NETAPORTER might be right behind MatchesFashion as far as going out of business. If you’re looking for designer clothing on fire sale… pay attention to that space AND subscribe to her letter!
We Were the Lucky Ones: I’m a sucker for historical fiction and this show is no exception. Based on the book with the same namesake, it’s about a Jewish family of 7 during WW2 and what they did to survive. I like that there’s a specific focus on what happened in Russia during this time, which I think a lot of Americans at least aren’t as familiar with. Each new episode premieres on Hulu every Friday.
Buying: this summer’s IT ITEM (I don’t make the rules, I just report. on. them.) which I rationalized will to some degree always be in style. However, I also bought a completely trendy phone case wristlet (the shells 😍) from OSSA New York. It’s utilitarian, right?
Merely window shopping: My new favorite thing after seeing the show Palm Royale (Sadly don’t recommend it. Great wardrobe, confused plot) is to look at houses for sale in Palm Beach. Like this one, for 55 million. Do I play tennis? No. But I could! Or this one! It just received a price cut of 5 million so technically it’s on sale. Now I have alerts coming to my inbox showing me new homes in the area ‘in my price range’. Lol.
In my screenshots: Zendaya’s new hair color, my next manicure, and a place that I had to Google image reverse search only to find it’s referred to as ‘the hotel that billionaires stay at’ (checks with my Zillow search history)
Three products I will always, always recommend: This pan cover that I use every single time I cook with EVOO and helps cut down on smell and grease everywhere, these face peel pads ($$$ but YOU GUYS) that I will always buy because I swear they’ve alone changed the texture of my face, and my tiny desk vacuum that I use for crumbs and cat hairballs.

Found: my dream (albeit impractical) car. I’d also opt for this one if the featured fluffy guest star were a gift with purchase, which is much better than the “free” rubber car floor mats I coerced sweetly convinced the VW dealership to give me last year.
Wearing: this crocheted crossbody cutie for Mexico City walkarounds and all other summertime adventures ahead. Ideal for stylishly holding all the essentials (including my new favorite $10 tinted lip balm since a gal can’t live on the ILIA one alone) while keeping your hands free for street tacos, margaritas para llevar (in CDMX or the US, there are no rules, right?), or ice cream.
Crushing on: this Nantucket summer home.
Listening to: the One in a Millennial audiobook, which is less hard-hitting nonfiction and more an incredibly enjoyable, relatable, and literal LOL Sunny D and Bubbalicious-flavored trip down memory lane of the 90s and 2000s cultural zeitgeist that most of us millennials lived and breathed so deeply.
Few millennial upbringing cornerstones are left unturned, including but not limited to (flexing my high school essay writing skills there): American Girl; Bath and Body Works (my BBW sign: Sweet Pea rising, Cucumber Melon moon); J-14 magazine and hearthrobs in the form of bleach blonde curly-haired Justin Timberlake and JTT; AIM and the not-so-scientific way we chose our screennames (devdream419 🙋🏼♀️); Limited Too and the silky pajamas we all desperately wished for at Christmas; and, of course, puka shell necklaces. Highly recommend throwing this on during springtime hot girl walks or adult housework activities.
Evangelizing: this tip for bringing hydrangeas back from the wilty dead (which mine always seem to do about an hour after giddily placing them in a vase). I tried it last weekend, and it resulted in resuscitated beauties that looked *real* nice for solid week.
And, before you go: 1. some extremely poetic words to live by:
and, an editor’s note: in the last DM, I accidentally linked Beyoncé twice (no regrets, slash perhaps it was actually on purpose, suckers!) and didn’t properly share the colorful Roma Norte beauty of a hotel where I’ll end my trip in the most magical place on Earth.
