Now this is a story all about how
Devon left me again for Mexico
and I’d like to take a moment
Just sit right there
Can we have a little chat about how this is deeply unfair?
…I heard recently that Cardi B got her start from improvising the lyrics of existing rap songs, so if the above’s rendition is any indication perhaps I too, have a future musical career. One can only hope.
In the meantime, I’m still in Denver, this is still The DM, and Will Smith, I see you, I love you, and I’m available for a duet whenever you’d like.

A portrait
While you’re out there getting your professional headshots, why not also get a pet portrait that’s as timeless and classy as the entire decade of 1980-1989? Dude, there’s a totally radical Etsy shop for that.

JUICY GOSS– Did you hear that the new Marilyn Monroe biopic starring Ana de Armas (the most beautiful woman in Hollywood, you heard it here first) just got an NC-17 rating? Fun fact (perhaps) but historically, studios stay away from this kind of rating because it’s bad for business but seeing as the show will air on Netflix and the platform kind of does its own thing, maybe that’s actually in its favor.
I, for one, hope that the rating is that we’ll see an in-depth look at depression in a way that the shiny, pretty starlet is usually not portrayed. It might make it hard to watch, but likewise, important to see.
As a young (wo)man
Not to get long-winded like a James Joyce novel (IYKYK), but I’m like, very into female poetry right now (snaps softly). Rupi Kaur is coming to town (on my birthday), my girl Molly Young made a t-shirt that I bought out of obligation about making big money writing poems, and this gal is my forever favorite because I’m not sure if I want to be a mom yet, but if I ever become one, I imagine this is a bit what it’s like to show her what it means to be a woman.
In other news, I live…
AIso, here. But specifically at the age of 5.
You may bury me in this kitchen.

Amalfi dreaming
If you’re lucky enough to have spent any amount of time on Italy’s Amalfi Coast, and still constantly think of your oceanside, pasta eating, Campari drinking, small windy road driving, dolce vita-filled days, make like moi and find a cheap fix in the form of pictures. I recently bought this gorgeous book and I highly recommend adding it (or another from their collection) to your coffee table. I also have my eyes on purchasing one of this photographer’s Positano prints - definitely this one, probably this one of the Da Adolfo boat - to frame until I can jet back sometime (hopefully) very soon.
Peanut butter jelly time
Yes, like the OG viral video, but also like the ever-classic sandwich that remains one of my favorite flavor combos. Admittedly, I tend to lean towards almond over peanut these days (fun facts: 1. My budget-friendly staple is Trader Joe’s raw crunchy and 2. during the early March 2020 pandemic panic grocery shopping days, I legit almost had a panic attack thinking that I couldn’t get any lol) - but! I was recently re-introduced to the small-batch salty peanut butter from Denver-based PB Love Company and I am all in. Like, as in eat-a-spoonful-many-times-a-day kind of in.
No disrespect to good ol’ Skippy - seriously, I couldn’t make these babies without it - but any of PB Love’s flavors (shoutout to Cinnamon Almond, too) might lowkey highkey *change your life*.
As far as the J of the PBJ goes? Well, if we’re all aboard the gourmet train, there is none other than jam from Sqirl, specifically the moro blood orange and vanilla bean marmalade.
Have your flowers and eat them, too
My sole New Year’s resolution to make one cake a month is going well, thanks for asking. For April, I have my heart and my Kitchen Aid stand mixer set on a frosted cake topped with flowers, particularly after being inspired by this baker and her sugary beauties. Since I’m not into poisoning anyone in the dessert process, I started researching which flowers are thumbs up on the edible front and was stoked to come across Loria’s handy guide (also, might snag some flowerfetti sprinkles while I’m at it).
Stay tuned on the cake, but in the meantime - the below spritzes are another good excuse to just buy some edible blooms in bulk for a floral-y party trick this summer.
It’s all for Flipper
When I was in fourth grade, I was adamant that I was going to get a PhD in marine biology when I grew up (bachelor’s degree in public relations = same same), so the bloew really struck a cord. See also: Lisa Frank 4ever.
And, before you go, here’s what I’m currently:
Planning to make when I’m back from Mexico: this mezcal punch
Nerding out on: lily pads!
Loving: this sofa brand, both for their gorgeous couches and their fun jumping Insta content
Wondering: if I can pull off the pajama set-esque look outside of my home
Singing to in my car: ‘Slow Song’, ‘Anything But Me’ and a ‘Teenage Dream’ cover
