I’ve always been a little obsessed with the idea of originality. I want to be first, or at the very least, know about it before you do. I want to be unique. I want to be special.
Did Natalie Portman start this snowflake obsession for our entire generation? Or did it begin with Jason Derulo saying his own name in his own songs? It’s hard to be sure where the infatuation with originality began, but as much as it pains me to say, I’m quite certain I’m not the only one.
And it’s probably why you’re here. As we celebrate year 2 (!!) here at The DM, I’m reflecting on why we started this in the first place. And I think the reason is (of course) because we hate the idea of being irrelevant but also, what’s the point of being the first if you’re the only?
It’s like doing Molly by yourself. Sure, it’s euphoric. But it’s also quite lonely. From what I hear. The DM, like a party drug, is better when it’s shared.
Thanks for being our internet friends to share cool things with for over two years! Like a cute snowflake, we think you’re original and unique, and special.

Say my name, say my name
I’m not a monogram girl. While I did go through a short Vera Bradley/Lily Pulitzer phase in college and I occasionally write my name with hearts around it on scraps of paper (Omg, a joke you guys. I write my name with stars around it), I find monograms to be a little too ‘never-used guest bathroom’ for my sensitive palate. But. As discussed, something being just yours is also extremely attractive. Which is why I have perished over Edie Parker’s new custom lighter clutches.
My friend Amanda recently called these trendy, but she is wrong. These are as timeless as Julia Fox smoking a blunt out of one with a head full of dry shampoo and a forehead absent of eyebrows. Which of course she did, just one mere week ago. A subject for a different day, but I’d follow that weirdo to the end of the freaking earth.
Not everything that glitters is gold
Sometimes it’s silver. Or pink. Or lavender. Sometimes it’s a mushroom. Sometimes it’s a customizable disco ball mushroom that I need in my living room for special occasions or maybe just all the time.
If you’re having vintage problems
I feel bad for you son. Get rid of your 99 links and just use one. This site consolidates resell sites like Etsy, eBay, TheRealReal, Poshmark, etc. into one place so you can look for those perfect pair of vintage Levis from just one beautiful synchronized tab.
Three inspiring things from my week in saved posts:
Kiernan Shipka wore a handcuff necklace and looked like a god damn roller derby goddess. I’m obsessed with everything she does in a really cool casual completely normal way
I declare I shall throw away my trash like this henceforth

When the sage liqueur hits
Whilst in Aspen, one must always dine at Clark’s (said in Wealthy Woman voice) - and whilst there this past week, our group ordered a dessert cocktail for the table (IYKYK) called Warm Mittens. Admittedly, we came for the name but stayed for the fact that it was simply hot chocolate, spiked with Dolin Genepy Mountain Sage Liqueur instead of the usual peppermint schnapps, topped with vanilla whipped cream and chocolate shavings, and it was simply *divine*. I’m snagging a bottle of this for myself, with plans to make my own version of Warm Mittens on repeat throughout the winter, and yes, you’re invited.

Sockz szn
I recently *splurged* on a pair of wool crew socks, of all things - and I’m happy to report that my (late night, post-cocktails) impulse purchase was well worth it. These comfy little things are unisex, come in a fun mix of colors, and, dare I say it, may just dispel the bummer association of finding socks in your stocking come Christmas morning.
Unrelated, but equally noteworthy: the same brand makes some stellar crewneck sweatshirts, too.
Dancing into the weekend like
If this video doesn’t 1. give you major early 2000s high school dance vibes and 2. cause waves of pure happiness to wash over you, please - call your therapist.
That good good
If you’re looking for a new print to replace your ‘live, laugh, love’ sign, this one is a framer.
And before you go, here’s what I’m currently:
Daydreaming about: this style-crush of a resort in Barbados, since it is currently 10 degrees in Denver.
Playing: a fun vibe-y Friendsgiving playlist.
Adding to cart: claw clips in the form of a golden retriever and Christmas hats, and everything from my favorite shop I’ve never actually been to.
Making: this squash salad and maple tahini dressing, an actually-quite-delicious cold elixir, and cranberry orange cookies.
